Education Centre Mdumbi

The Mdumbi Education Centre operates in one of South Africa’s poorest provinces, the Eastern Cape, home to the Xhosa people.

With limited access to accurate information about HIV/AIDS, the province has an HIV prevalence rate of 29%. Basic education is also poor, with 40% of people having had no schooling at all.

The Mdumbi Education Centre offers an educational springboard to a more prosperous life for the Xhosa people, currently trapped in the cycle of poverty and disadvantage.

While preserving and respecting the Xhosa culture, the Mdumbi Education Centre provides:

  • Pre-school learning for 100 children aged 3 to 6.

  • After-school classes for 300 children aged 6 to 12.

  • Adult Education and Training for 250 adults.

  • Further Education scholarships for committed young learners.

  • A library including information on HIV/AIDS, healthcare and how to deal with violence, rape and alcohol abuse.

Join us in providing a future for the children of South Africa.
