Thobeka's Story

A Happy Reunion

Bev Wills, a Love Is All We Need trustee, regularly visits our projects in South Africa. Here, Bev tells us about an emotional reunion:

"Whilst out in the Sweetwaters community, a teenage girl came over to say hello. She was one of Zanele's foster children on her way home from school. Still in her uniform, she had a big smile on her face. I didn't recognise her.

When I met Thobeka last year she had an expressionless face, her legs were covered in blisters, and she wouldn't make eye contact - such was the abuse and distress she had suffered before coming into the care of Zanele.

Now, standing before me, Thobeka was healthy and vibrant, and living testimony to the care, commitment and love these young people receive when being cared for by Zanele, Gail (both pictured alongside Thobeka) and the caregivers of the Hope Centre. Such was the progress, that had I not seen it for myself, I would have found it hard to believe."

This is the difference your support makes.

Because of people like you supporting our causes we can continue to make a difference to real lives:
